
Since 1912 the Montebello Chamber of Commerce and it’s Board of Directors has been dedicated to helping the business community by creating the programs and services that help businesses prosper and create a strong local economy which makes our community a great place to do business.

A pro-business agenda that protects the interests of business
- Endorsed the city’s “color code” ordinance for businesses, to encourage and create an updated and customer friendly appearance.
- Encourage “Buy Montebello” to the community with business advertisements in Chamber newspaper directly mailed to businesses and every resident in the city.
- Sponsor New Business Receptions which welcomes new businesses
- Supported the Revitalization of the Whittier Boulevard Corridor
- Promoted Montebello businesses to over 1,000 attendees by hosting an annual Business Expo

The Montebello Chamber’s networking programs offers many opportunities for members to make valuable business contacts and sell their products and services.
Examples of these opportunities are:

Chamber Connections – weekly “leads” group that dedicate their time each week to obtaining new leads for their fellow members.
- Ribbon cuttings, ground breakings and mixers to welcome new businesses and showcase their businesses, mailing lists and services, management assistance
- Referrals – the Chamber gives thousands of referrals each year to chamber member businesses
- Chamber website – www.montebellochamber.org members receive free listings and links to their websites
- Business Directory – only directory in the city with chamber member’s business names, addresses and phone numbers
- Committees – Joining a committee helps build solid relationships with other businesses and makes a difference in the community.
- Chamber Newspaper – “The Spotlight” newspaper is a bi-monthly publication directly mailed to every household in the city and hundreds of businesses (circulation of 20,000) and an excellent source for advertising your products and services.
- Workshops, educational seminars for employers and employees.

The Chamber is the “voice of the business community” The Chamber’s Governmental
Affairs Committee focuses its efforts on legislative agenda that supports the growth of business and opposes legislation that is harmful to business. The Chamber takes positions on key legislation such as business/regulatory reform, employee relations, health care reform, infrastructure and transportation. The Chamber is the only broad-based organization that represents the business community.
Examples of these are:

Hosted Annual Business Legislative luncheon with local, state and federal elected officials.
- Coordinated meeting with County Supervisor to update businesses on local and regional issues
- Supported campaign for workers compensation reform
- Took positions on dozens of initiatives and ballot measures that affect the business community.
- Liaison with city government
- Hosted candidates forum to keep the business community informed about candidates running for office and their positions critical issues affecting our city.
- A strong voice for business through participation in annual California Chamber Annual Legislative Conference in Sacramento

The Montebello Chamber of Commerce takes the lead in promoting the community by encouraging new businesses to locate here, and advocating that our community is a great place to work, do business and raise a family. Some of the Chamber’s community involvement include:

Support the city by attending and assisting at the International Council of Shopping Centers Convention which attracts thousands of developers and businesses looking for new sites for their clients.
- Supported and assisted with the Montebello Fall Festival – attracting thousands of visitors to Montebello.
- Helped promote “Clean Up” day in Montebello
- Work with the city with anti-graffiti programs in the city to attract new business
- Support and promote the projects of local service clubs and organizations which enrich our communities
