Speakers
"Advancing Your Career Through Education" - Dr. Linda Joyce Johnson is a native of Los Angeles, California. She earned Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from California State University, Fullerton, a Master's degree in Education, with an emphasis in Counseling and two Pupil Personnel Service Credentials in School Psychology and Counseling from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Dr. Johnson also earned a doctorate degree in Psychology from Alliant International University, formerly California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Johnson is currently attending the University of Phoenix pursuing a second doctorate degree in Educational Leadership in the School of Advanced Studies. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and is employed as a School Psychologist & Behavior Specialist with the AVUHS District in Lancaster, California. Dr. Johnson has an extensive background in Early Childhood Education with special emphasis in therapeutic interventions and teaching experience at the pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade levels.
"Human Services Jobs with Counties" - Sheree Summers is a Staff Development Officer and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with RCDMH. She has worked in the field of mental health for the past 8 years and has served in public mental health since 2007. She also has experience in inpatient chemical dependency programs, school counseling and career counseling. As a Staff Development Officer, Sheree trains several workshops including Recovery Management, Motivational Interviewing, Communication and Counseling, Professional Development, Recovery Model, Non-violent Crisis Interventions and other community presentations. In addition to training, Sheree coordinates two workforce development programs for RCDMH. The Graduate Internship, Field and Traineeship (GIFT) Program prepares graduate-level interns for work in public mental health. The Clinical Licensure Advancement and Support (CLAS) Program supports department pre-licensed clinicians in their journey toward state licensure.
"Opportunities in Public Sectors and With Our Youth"- Dianne E. Smith, MFT has been a licensed therapist for over 30 years and has experience in all levels of care from state hospitals to private practice. She has worked both in the public sector as well as the private sector with her passion being working with foster children. As a lead faculty for University of Phoenix she teaches in all three programs (psychology, human services and counseling) and enjoys helping students find their career paths.
"Resume and Interview Skills Workshop"- Dr. Roman Shain is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, National Counselor Certified, and CAMFT Certified Supervisor. He is currently managing Children's Field Capable Clinical Services of SFVCMHC Inc.
Dr. Shain has been teaching courses in psychology, human services, and counseling at University of Phoenix since 2007. In January 2012, he was presented with UOPX Distinguished Faculty/Leader in Experiential Education Award. Since 2013, he's been acting as a Lead Faculty/Faculty Advisor. In addition, Dr. Shain teaches Post Modern Family Therapy Theories and Counseling Psychometrics courses.
Dr. Shain co-chairs Ethics committee on the Board of California Association of Professional Counselors. He has developed and conducted numerous seminars on crisis management, critical clinical thinking, and creative interventions. His research was featured in Journal of Family Therapy.
