Lions Club of Montebello Raises Next Generation of Volunteers

    The Lions Club of Montebello held a Pancake Breakfast on March 11 to raise funds for its numerous community programs serving the Montebello area.  The dining hall of the Montebello Senior Center was filled with locals of all ages who turned up to support the event. 
    The club’s mascot, Melvin the Lion, made his rounds entertaining the attendees and creating colorful photo opps for the diners.  Lucky winners of a fundraising raffle were awarded prizes that ranged from bottles of wine to theme park tickets. 
    The most admirable feature of the event was the presence of youthful volunteers serving up the breakfasts and selling raffle tickets.  The helpful teenagers were members of school-based Leo Clubs where Lions Club members strive to mentor and nurture young people into valuable citizens, community leaders and future service club members.
