Montebello Soroptomist Club Fights Teen Abuse

                Soroptomist International of Montebello has partnered with the East Los Angeles Women’s Center and the Montebello Unified School District to educate teenagers about how to have healthy relationships.  Starting with a presentation at Schurr High School on April 25^th, the local Soroptomist club has begun campaign to raise awareness about abuse, bullying, cyber bullying and teen dating abuse.  To drive home their message, special t-shirts were printed bearing the slogan: “Break the Silence to Abuse.“
                After the success of their presentation at Schurr, Montebello Soroptomist members have since been invited to continue delivering their presentations at other MUSD high schools.  Taking its namesake from a word that means “best for women,” Soroptomist International is a global volunteer organization with 76,000 members working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.
