Soroptomist Hosts Survivors’ Beauty Day

In conjunction with their activities during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Soroptomist of Montebello chose 10 breast cancer survivors to receive a day of beauty on October 15^th.  The owner, stylists and staff of Salon Cajj in Montebello closed their doors to the public and graciously provided the women with a professional make-up application, hair wash, cut and style.  A professional photographer was on-site to capture the day.  In addition to Salon Cajj, the event was also sponsored by MHDC and Terminal Exchange Services, Inc.

The day began with breakfast which was prepared by Soroptimist President Corinne Medina, during which the women shared their survivor stories.  The stories ranged widely from women who had recently finished treatment to those who had been on their journey for some time. 

After their work with hair stylists and make-up artists, the women bonded over lunch which was also prepared by Medina.  Nora, a professional photographer, interacted with the women and helped them get comfortable around the camera. Individual photos helped to capture each woman’s beauty, while group photographs memorialized the special bond that was created that day between the survivors, stylists and salon staff.
